About this release
His set contains some Schumann rarities. Opinions differ about the works Schumann wrote in his later period, the period in which his mind started to wander, ultimately leading to his confinement and death in a psychiatric asylum. Whatever the criticisms might be, the spirit of the Great Romantic is always present, whether obvious or under the surface, and nobody should be ignorant of these wonderful works who also knows the blazing genius of the Piano Concerto.
Great performances by for example two Hungarian pianists Peter Frankl and Klára Würtz, and German cello virtuoso Julius Berger.
