About this release

Georg Philipp Telemann’s extensive oeuvre comprises amongst many other works no less than an astonishing 135 overtures or suites for orchestra. These were written for varying ensembles, from exclusively consisting of winds instruments to entirely stringed ensembles.

These suites were written for specific occasions but by his unstoppable inspiration and remarkable craftsmanship Telemann managed to uplift them to permanent gems in the repertoire.

On this second volume another 13 works can be found, with mainly wood winds and brass in the solo parts. These Baroque suites for orchestra are enormously varied and are played infectiously by Belgian 'Collegium Instrumentale Brugense' under its conductor Patrick Peire. Most enjoyable music.
