Are Telemann’s Fantasias for flute by Telemann, and are they intended for the flute? There are reasons to believe they are neither. This, however, does not make this music any less interesting. They are charming and varied suites indeed.
Baroque specialist and flautist Jed Wentz has chosen to play these well-known pieces with the emphasis on their ‘earthly humour’ rather than on their daintiness. The results of this approach are refreshingly new sounding interpretations by a performer who needs no further introduction.
A welcome addition to our already wide selection of Baroque music played on period instruments.
