Brilliant Classics Chamber Music set of Schubert, featuring the great string quartets of the Viennese master.
The word great is not used in a superficial manner, these works are truly great in their vast scope, their emotional impact, and their influence on the works of later composers.
The A minor and D minor bear nicknames, after songs on whose themes Schubert wrote variations: Rosamunde and Der Tod und das Mädchen. The G major quartet has no nickname, but is perhaps the best of them all, a mature work of genius.
Excellent performances by the German Brandis Quartet.
